An Element of Realism

I have been exploring a potential new direction of my practice to pay tribute to the history of existing spaces that were imagined, built and inhabited, once again they are being transformed and imagined into new places. From the view of my distorted reality I wanted to show the dichotomy and changes of what we see in any city, the old mixed with the new, smashed together in an obscure reality that is not so strange in our current built environment.

Abstractions

ShardsAbstractions are a series of works that focus on form and symmetry in the built environment where building façades are a key influence in the design. These works were exhibited in the 2017 NZ Art Show, at the TSB Arena in Wellington.

Slicing compositions

Bridge Form is a new work where the focus is on “slicing” the composition to allow for multiple forms to exist in the one space. Much like in the reality of space there are multiple pieces that join together – not always in a cohesive and harmonious manner.
